I've been a songwriter for twenty years, releasing three albums and producing a fourth of children's music. My songs have been featured on national TV and radio, and I've performed all over the country with acts including Lisa Loeb, Lucy Kaplansky and Erin McKeown. Among other honors in 2007 I was named Oregon's Best Singer-Songwriter at the Bite of Oregon Festival.
In 2012 I fell in love with teaching. I teach preschool music at Portland Jewish Academy, and in the Music Together program. I also teach at Portland-area synagogues and other organizations. I served as musical theater instructor to teens and kids at Spotlight Musical Theater Academy, helping young actors create proproductions and prepare for auditions. I also collaborated with PJ Library to pioneer a Music Hour series for young families in Portland.
I've served as music director and actor in several theatrical productions. I music-directed A Christmas Carol at Portland Playhouse, which won Drammys for Best Musical and Best Director. I've also played guitar and acted in several productions at Broadway Rose Theatre.
From 2014-2016 I worked on a special project co-creating an original play. I collaborated with writer, Broadway actor and friend Rodney Hicks on NC-17, the story of six teenagers living and dying in America. A director is now attached to the play as it is developed for the stage. While my original music is no longer attached to the project, NC-17 has a promising life ahead of it.
My first collection of poetry, Morning in the World, was published in 2018.
